Gina Connell

Chief, Communications, Engagement & Change at IWK Health

Gina Connell has more than 30 years of experience in communications and public affairs. Gina is currently serving as the Chief of Communications, Engagement & Change at IWK Health Centre since September 2018. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief of Communications & Public Affairs at the same company starting in September 2015. Earlier in their career, Gina worked as the Senior Vice President of Client Services at M5 Marketing Communications from April 2012 to August 2015. Before that, they held various roles including Group Account Director and Account Director at Extreme Group from June 2006 to July 2010. Gina also has experience in the public sector, having worked as the Director of Communications & Public Affairs at Halifax International Airport Authority from August 2000 to June 2006, and as the Director of Marketing & Communications at Greater Halifax Partnership from September 1999 to August 2000. Gina has also worked as a Course Instructor at Mount Saint Vincent University and as the Director of Communications at Dalhousie Medical School. Gina started their career in 1987 as the Public Relations Coordinator at Victoria General Hospital Foundation and later worked in public affairs at Maritime Tel & Tel.

Gina Connell obtained a Master's Certificate in Organization Development and Change from the Schulich School of Business - York University in 2017-2018. Gina also earned a Bachelor of Public Relations (BPR) degree from Mount Saint Vincent University from 1983-1987. Gina received their accreditation as an ABC (Accredited Business Communicator) from the International Association of Business Communicators in 1997. Prior to their higher education, they attended Prince Andrew High School from 1980-1983. Additionally, they hold the certification of Accredited Business Communicator from the International Association of Business Communicators.
