Anna Capria

Anna Capria has a diverse range of work experiences. Anna started their career as a Year One Peer Advisor at Rochester Institute of Technology, where they helped first-year students transition to college life. Anna also served as a Learning Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and Research Assistant at Rochester Institute of Technology, gaining experience in genetics, cellular and molecular biology, and lab instruction. Additionally, Anna worked as a Senator in the RIT Student Government, collaborating with other student leaders to bring about positive change on campus.

Anna then joined Uppsala University, where they held multiple roles including President of the Medical Masters Council and Project Manager of the Uppsala SensUs Team. In these positions, they represented student needs, led meetings, organized activities, and managed team communication and deadlines.

Anna also gained professional experience as a COVID-19 Contact Tracer at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC, where they communicated with individuals who had tested positive for COVID-19 and managed their contacts with empathy and compassion. Anna also maintained private patient information in a centralized database.

Furthermore, Anna worked as a Graduate Student Consultant at AesculaTech, providing consultation services in the field of healthcare. Anna also interned at BioCentury Inc., where they worked as a Data Entry and Analyst Intern.

Anna's experience extends to the field of bioinformatics, as they interned as a Bioinformatics Software Developer at Boston Children's Hospital, specializing in analyzing genomic data and implementing large-scale reanalysis. Currently, they work as an Outreach Coordinator and Bioinformatic Analyst at the J. Craig Venter Institute.

In addition to their professional experiences, Anna co-founded Resilient Vitality, a company focused on improving mental health treatment through web and mobile solutions.

Lastly, Anna has also demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to professional development as the Professional Development Chair at Keck Graduate Institute, where they facilitated networking skill development, resource sharing, and organized professional development opportunities for students.

Anna Capria completed their Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from Rochester Institute of Technology. Anna also pursued a Master's degree in Medical Research from Uppsala University but did not complete it. Currently, they are enrolled at Keck Graduate Institute, where they are obtaining a Master of Science degree in Human Genetics and Genomic Data Analytics, which they are expected to complete in 2023.

In addition to their formal education, Anna has obtained several certifications. Anna completed the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience at Keck Graduate Institute and acquired the NY State Citizen Public Health Leader certification from the New York State Department of Health. Anna also completed the COVID-19 Contact Tracing certification from Coursera. Furthermore, Anna has obtained certifications in Human Subjects - Biomedical Researchers and RCR: Faculty, Staff and Students from the CITI Program. Anna is also a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certified by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and holds an Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross.
