Yakima Levy

Yakima Levy is a seasoned professional in the fashion and design industry, currently serving as a Sewing Instructor at Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement since February 2017, specializing in instructional sewing for diverse age groups. Previous experience includes roles such as Wardrobe Assistant at Macy's and Costume Designer at Remembering Textiles, where expertise in wardrobe consulting, alterations, jewelry design, and theatrical makeup design was developed. As a Wardrobe Stylist at Teatro LATEA, Yakima was responsible for costume alterations and overseeing backstage setups, in alignment with the director's vision. Additionally, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, dance costumes designed by Yakima garnered attention in Caribbean Life Newspaper. Yakima holds a Certificate in Costume Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology and an Associate of Arts degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Medgar Evers College, CUNY.
