Melissa Morris is a dedicated music educator with extensive experience in various educational roles, currently serving as an Arts Office Facilitator for the NYC Department of Education since January 2024. Morris also acts as the Arts Office Liaison, connecting music educators in Brooklyn South to the Office of Arts and Special Projects. As President of the Music Teachers for Global Peace Foundation since July 2018, Morris focuses on promoting empathy and expression through music. In addition to founding and directing modern music programs at James Madison High School, Morris has held significant positions such as Global Teacher Prize Ambassador with the Varkey Foundation and Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Safe Schools. With degrees in Music Education from prestigious institutions, including New York University and the University of Hartford, Morris is dedicated to fostering a supportive and innovative learning environment for students.
