Erica R. has a diverse range of work experience in the field of counseling and education. Erica began their career as a Camp Counselor at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Ann Arbor, where they worked with and supervised children grades 2nd to 5th. Erica also served as a Hebrew School Teacher at Congregation Shaarey Zedek, teaching 3rd/4th graders in the subjects of Hebrew and Judaic Studies.
In 2011, Erica joined the Musiker Discovery Program as a Residential Counselor, providing support and enrichment activities to students. Erica later worked as a Graduate Student at the University of Michigan while also interning at the University of Michigan Health System. As an intern, they were part of a multidisciplinary outpatient team, working with child/adolescent patients and their families through therapeutic caseloads, evaluations, and support group facilitation.
After completing their internship, Erica held positions at Eastern Michigan University Counseling & Psychological Services as a Therapist and Wayne State University Counseling & Psychological Services as a Counselor. In these roles, they provided counseling, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and life skills development to college students.
Most recently, Erica has been working at The Jed Foundation (JED). Erica started as a Campus Advisor and later became a Senior Campus Advisor, supporting initiatives related to mental health and well-being on college campuses. Erica then advanced to the role of Director of Higher Education and Student Engagement, where they oversaw programs and initiatives for college students. Currently, they hold the position of Director of School Engagement, focusing on school-based mental health initiatives.
Through this progression of roles and experiences, Erica has developed a strong background in counseling, mental health support, and education, particularly within the college and university settings.
Erica R. earned a high school diploma from Ann Arbor Huron High School in 2007. Erica then attended Michigan State University from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a focus in Language Arts. Following this, Erica attended the University of Michigan School of Social Work from 2011 to 2012 and earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with a field of study in Interpersonal Practice with Children, Youth, & Families. In addition to their formal education, Erica also holds a certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but the institution, month, and year of obtaIning the certification are not provided.
