Lcmft Dr. Zainab Okolo

Dr. Zainab Okolo, LCMFT has a diverse range of work experience. Dr. Zainab is currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Policy, Advocacy & Government Relations at The Jed Foundation (JED). Prior to their current role, they worked as a Strategy Officer at Lumina Foundation from 2019 to 2023. In 2018, they were an Associate at HCM Strategists, and in 2017, they held positions as a Graduate Research Associate at the American Council on Education and a Research Analyst Intern at the Institute for Higher Education Policy. Dr. Zainab also interned as a Policy Intern at Lumina Foundation in 2017. Before entering the education and policy field, Dr. Okolo worked at the University of Maryland, where they served as the Undergraduate Program Director from 2011 to 2016 and as an Undergraduate Admissions Officer from 2010 to 2011. Additionally, they worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist at Maryland Family Resource, Inc. from 2010 to 2013.

Dr. Zainab Okolo, LCMFT, has an extensive education background. Dr. Zainab earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from The George Washington University, spanning from 2015 to 2019. Prior to this, they completed their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling at Syracuse University from 2008 to 2010. Furthermore, Dr. Okolo previously obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences/Human Sciences at the University of Maryland from 2004 to 2008.
