Prior to this, they worked at Uber as a Sr Advanced Airspace Services Engineer from 2019 to 2021, where they focused on Uber Elevate and the development of advanced airspace technologies.
From 2016 to 2019, Christabelle B. worked at NASA Ames Research Center as an Aerospace Research Engineer. In this role, they focused on developing algorithms and technologies for autonomous air traffic management systems and urban air mobility, such as flying taxis and autonomous drone package deliveries.
Before their time at NASA, Christabelle B. worked as an Operations Research and Advanced Analytics Consultant at American Airlines from 2015 to 2016. Christabelle applied operations research techniques to optimize airline operations and developed decision support tools.
Their earlier experience includes roles as an Assistant Software Engineer and Research Intern at UARC - NASA Ames Research Center, where they worked on air traffic management research and performed fast time simulations.
Christabelle B. also has experience from their time at Purdue University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Graduate Research Assistant, and Graduate Student Researcher, where they conducted research and developed applications related to air traffic management.
Their career began with a research internship at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, where they conducted theoretical research on hypersonic phenomena and designed shock-based expansion tubes.
Christabelle B. also has experience outside of the aerospace field, with a metrology internship at Sagem Défense Sécurité, where they performed quality assurance tasks and created an instrument database.
Lastly, they had a manufacturing engineering internship at Dassault Aviation early in their career.
Christabelle B. has a bachelor's degree in Technology and Applied Physics from UVSQ Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, which they earned from 2006 to 2009. Christabelle then pursued a master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Ecole Supérieure des Techniques Aéronautiques et de Construction Automobile, completing it from 2006 to 2011. Following this, they attended Purdue University for their second master's degree in the same field, from 2010 to 2011. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University, which they completed between 2012 and 2015.
