Dana Frye has a diverse work experience spanning over the past decade. Dana started their career as an intern at Cygnus Instruments in 2009, where they provided support for ultrasonic thickness gauges used in various industrial applications. In 2010, they worked as a Project Management Intern at Jacobs Engineering, gaining knowledge and understanding of LEED Green Building Certification and Construction Methods.
Moving forward, Dana joined General Dynamics Electric Boat in 2012 as a Senior Engineer. In this role, they conducted structural and mechanical engineering analysis for VIRGINIA, SEAWOLF, and COLUMBIA class structures and components. Dana utilized finite element analysis methods and classical analytical techniques to assess stress and stability against design criteria.
In 2018, Dana joined Joby Aviation as a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer. Here, they were responsible for analyzing the structures of Joby's composite electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Their work involved static, dynamic, fatigue, and modal analysis of structural components, with a particular focus on composite empennage, propeller blades, and tilt linkages.
Throughout their career, Dana has gained expertise in structural analysis, finite element analysis, design and analysis of mechanical connections, and LEED Green Building Certification. Their experience showcases a strong background in engineering and a commitment to excellence in their field.
Dana Frye completed their education in a chronological order. Dana obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University, studying from 2008 to 2012. Dana's high school education was completed at St. Mary's Annapolis High School, where they obtained a high school diploma from 2004 to 2008.
In addition to their formal education, Dana Frye has also acquired additional certifications. Dana is a SIMULIA Champion, certified by Dassault Systèmes, which they obtained in January 2023. Dana also successfully completed the FE Exam, administered by NCEES, in June 2018.
