Systems Engineer Lead, Energy Storage And Distribution Systems at Joby Aviation

David Locascio's work experience begins with their role as a Laboratory Research Assistant at Tulane University from September 2012 to February 2013. David then became an Engineering Intern in the Manufacturing Engineering Group at Intralox from February 2012 to August 2013, where they focused on designing and building automatic and semi-automatic equipment for plastic injection molded parts.

In 2014, David worked as an Engineering Intern in the Wildcards Group at Intralox from January to May. David also had two roles at Tenbo Remote Aerial Imaging, first as a Founding Employee of their tech startup from May to December, and then as a Technical Consultant from December 2014 to May 2016.

From 2015 to 2016, David held the position of Graduate Research Assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology. During this time, they worked on Micro Autonomous Vehicles Research for the Army Research Laboratory, as well as projects for NASA and Toyota TTC. Their responsibilities included the creation of toolsets and baseline vehicle designs, automated UAV design and manufacturing, and optimization of electric vehicle range and efficiency.

At Rolls-Royce, David held various roles starting in 2016. David began as part of the Component Engineering Rotational Program from July 2016 to June 2018, where they gained experience in Stress Analysis, Product Definition, and Design. David also worked as a Component Design Engineer in Structures from July to December 2018, and as a Component Design Engineer for Turbine Rotatives from January to October 2019. In their latter role, they supported the manufacturing of T56 and AE turbine wheels, led producibility projects, and delivered improvements resulting in cost avoidance and budget recovery.

David's most recent employment was at Joby Aviation, where they started as a System Engineer in January 2022 and progressed to a Senior System Engineer role in July 2023.

David Locascio received their Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) in Engineering Physics from Tulane University, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. David later pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, completing their studies from 2015 to 2016. In September 2019, David obtained a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from Rolls-Royce. Additionally, in July 2014, they acquired an Amateur Radio Technician License from the ARRL.
