Flight Test Engineering Lead at Joby Aviation

Gerno Loots has an extensive work experience history in the aviation industry. Gerno started their career in 2007 as an RF Survayor at EMSS. In 2009, they joined the Royal Australian Air Force and held various roles, including Aerospace Engineering Officer, Flight Test Engineer, and Aviation Safety Officer. During their time with the Air Force, they also served as a Project Engineering Manager from 2011 to 2013 and a Maintenance Engineer from 2009 to 2010. In 2014, they worked as a Flight Test Engineer at ETPS. From 2018 to 2022, they were employed by Lilium as the Lead Flight Test Engineer. In 2022, they transitioned to Joby Aviation, where they currently hold the roles of Flight Test Engineering Lead and Flight Test Engineer.

Gerno Loots completed their education in a chronological order. In 2003, they enrolled at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria and obtained a BEng degree in Electronics in 2008. Following that, in 2014, they attended Cranfield University where they pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Flight Test and Flight Dynamics, which they completed in 2015. Additionally, in the same year, Loots graduated from the Empire Test Pilots' School after completing the No 38 Flight Test Engineer Course - Class A.
