Stephen M. Popp has extensive experience in educational leadership, currently serving as the Head of School at John Cooper School since July 2015, with prior roles as Assistant Head of School and Head of Upper School. At St. John's School from August 2005 to June 2015, Popp was the Upper School Dean of Students and a History and Government teacher, overseeing non-academic student life and teaching Advanced Placement courses. Popp also worked as an Independent Consultant for The College Board from 2003 to 2013, leading curriculum sessions for teachers at Advanced Placement conferences, and began their career as a History Teacher at Plano Senior High School from 1998 to 2004, where recognition included the High School Honor Teacher of the Year award in 2001. Popp's educational credentials include a Doctor of Education from Vanderbilt University and a Master's in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, alongside degrees in History from the University of Houston and Baylor University.
