Amy McNeill-Valentine has a strong background in the fashion industry, primarily with the company Johnny Was. Amy began their career with Johnny Was in 2008 as an Associate Technical Designer, where they gained valuable experience in the technical aspects of design. In 2009, they were promoted to the role of Senior Designer, where they led a design team and was responsible for managing all aspects of the product design process. In 2018, they were promoted again to the position of Design Director, further showcasing their skills and expertise. Currently, Amy holds the position of Senior Design Director at Johnny Was, where they oversee multiple product categories, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and stays up-to-date on industry trends. Amy is also responsible for hiring and developing a team that reflects the global consumer population. Throughout their career, Amy has consistently demonstrated their ability to provide feedback, give direction, and offer design assistance to junior team members.
Amy McNeill-Valentine attended California State University, Los Angeles from 1989 to 1991, where they studied Art, but did not earn a degree. Later, from 2006 to 2008, they attended FIDM, where they obtained an AA degree in Fashion Design.
