Professor And Director Of The Materials Characterization & Processing Center at Johns Hopkins University

Mitra Taheri is a distinguished academic and scientist with extensive experience in materials science and engineering. Currently serving as a Professor and Director of the Materials Characterization & Processing Center at The Johns Hopkins University since January 2020, Mitra also holds the position of Chief Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory since September 2021. Previously, Mitra was the Hoeganaes Professor at Drexel University from September 2008 to December 2019, and held fellowships at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Naval Research Laboratory. Mitra earned a PhD and a BS in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, completing the doctorate in 2005 and the bachelor's degree in 2001, after graduating from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in 1997.
