Windflower Waters has worked in the software industry since 1985, beginning as an Associate Member of Technical Staff at Lockheed Missiles and Space (LAD). In 1988, they were a Consultant at Pencom, and in 1989, they began working at PSW Technologies (Concero), Pencom Software, and PSW Technologies / Pencom Software / Concero, where they held the role of Software Architect, Developer, QA Manager, Software Methodology specialist, and instructor. In 2000, they became an Independent Consultant at Traq Wireless, where they designed and prototyped a web-based, distributed, client/server database application suite with transaction management. In 2011, they were rehired at Journyx as a Software Architect, where they provided technical leadership for all custom development, clarified customer needs, and led project kick-off meetings.

Windflower Waters studied Mathematics at the University of Colorado Denver from 1978 to 1981. Windflower then attended Rutgers University from 1982 to 1984, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
