Mikaela Houghton

Mikaela Houghton has a diverse work experience in the non-profit sector. Mikaela currently works at Jumpstart as the Associate Director of Institutional Partnerships, where they are responsible for developing partnerships with various institutions. Prior to that, they held the position of Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships at the same organization.

Before joining Jumpstart, Mikaela worked at The Posse Foundation as a Senior Development Officer. In this role, they successfully raised funds for Posse Atlanta, exceeding revenue goals and securing sponsorships from corporations and individual donors. Mikaela also conducted prospect research and maintained relationships with existing donors.

Prior to their role at The Posse Foundation, Mikaela worked at Raising A Reader as the Manager of Affiliate Growth and Development. In this role, they played a key role in expanding the organization's network of affiliates and managing regional grant requests. Mikaela also led successful fundraising efforts and achieved high sales revenue.

Mikaela's earlier work experience includes roles at Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN) as a Development and Operations Associate and Office and Development Coordinator. Mikaela also worked as a Corps Member at City Year.

Throughout their career, Mikaela has demonstrated strong fundraising, partnership development, and project management skills. Mikaela has a track record of exceeding revenue goals and contributing to the growth and success of non-profit organizations.

Mikaela Houghton obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies, with a concentration in Comparative Education, from Long Island University's Global College (LIU Global) in 2016. Mikaela then pursued a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management, with a concentration in Global Studies, at Northeastern University from 2018 to 2020. In terms of additional certifications, Mikaela has completed several LinkedIn courses on topics such as Excel, PowerPoint, cybersecurity, effective listening, giving and receiving feedback, holding oneself accountable, Outlook, and Word. Mikaela has also obtained certifications in Nonprofit Marketing Essentials from the Georgia Center for Nonprofits in 2018, and in the Rights of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons from the Human Rights Education Associates (HREA) in 2015.
