Chris Airey has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and development. Chris is currently the Director of Engineering at JW Player since April 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Software Engineering at Vualto from August 2017 to March 2021, where they were responsible for managing the software development team, projects, client management, and business analysis. Chris also held the role of Technical Lead at Vualto from February 2014 to July 2017.
Before joining Vualto, Chris worked as the Technical Director and Owner of Digital Rock Ltd from October 2012 to November 2014, specializing in video streaming. Chris also served as a Senior Software Developer at the NHS from April 2012 to October 2012, focusing on improving software quality and providing Agile/SCRUM coaching. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Software Developer at Twofour Digital from April 2008 to April 2012, where they developed software based on agile methodologies.
Chris's early work experience includes serving as the Technical Manager and Software Developer at Kevin Cooper Motor Factors from July 2005 to April 2008. There, they were responsible for setting up the company's IT infrastructure, developing their first website, and creating online web applications for cataloguing and improving company efficiency.
Throughout their career, Chris has demonstrated a passion for delivering projects on time and within budget without compromising quality. Chris is experienced in lean practices, Agile methodologies, test-driven development (TDD), and behavior-driven development (BDD).
Chris Airey completed a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science from The Open University from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2005, they obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science from the University of Plymouth.
