Pavel Shik

Director of Operations, GMP Manufacturing at KaliVir Immunotherapeutics

Pavel Shik has a long and varied career in the biotechnology industry. Pavel began their career in 2009 as a Research Assistant at Macrocure, where they were responsible for developing release methods for clinical trial cell therapy product, setting up an additional laboratory in the US, and writing Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs). Pavel was promoted to QC Supervisor in the same company, where they were responsible for trending Cell Therapy product Manufacturing and QC data, supervising ongoing R&D projects and laboratory personnel, and performing equipment validation. In 2012, Pavel was promoted again to QC Manager at Macrocure, where they were responsible for building and maintaining an annual budget of ~$1M, validating complex analytical release methods, and performing process and analytical methods technology transfer. In 2016, Pavel moved to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center as Operations Manager of the Viral Vector and GTMP facility, where they shaped a strong independent team to support operations of viral vector and cell and gene therapy manufacturing, established a comprehensive Environmental Monitoring trending program, and redesigned the Supplier Qualification program to align with current risk-based practices. In 2022, Pavel joined KaliVir Immunotherapeutics as Director of Operations, GMP Manufacturing.

Pavel Shik received their Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology Engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 2008, after having started their studies there in 2004. Pavel then continued their studies at the same university and received their Master of Science in Biotechnology Engineering in 2009.
