Rik Maes

Rik Maes is an experienced industrial designer currently serving as Teamlead Industrial Design at Kalkhoff Bikes since March 2022, where leadership of a design team and the development of bike parts and frames are primary responsibilities. Previously, Rik held roles as an Industrial Designer and Junior Industrial Design Engineer at Derby Cycle from September 2018 to March 2022, focusing on the same design tasks. During academic studies at Ghent University, Rik achieved a Master's degree in Industrial Design from 2017 to 2019 and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from 2014 to 2018, while also developing a design language communication tool during a master’s project in collaboration with Derby Cycle and Ugent. A brief internship at TEN // The Engineering Network occurred in early 2019, alongside a student job as a waiter from August 2016 to September 2018.
