David Simons

David Simons has extensive work experience in various technical roles. David started their career as a Summer Intern at Deloitte, where they worked on analyzing economic data and providing automated tests for fraud detection. David then worked as a Developer and later as a Technical Lead at Softwire, managing teams and developing software solutions using different technologies. As a Senior Consultant at GraphAware, they delivered consultancy packages to clients and worked on data modeling and training for companies. At the Ministry of Justice UK, they served as a Full-stack Developer, working on the integration of criminal justice systems. David then joined Mettle, a challenger bank, as a Senior Developer, contributing to architectural and process practices. Later, at Citi, they were a Technical Lead, leading the implementation of a multi-tenant Kafka service. Currently, they are the Head of Engineering at Kaluza, where they oversee teams responsible for developing a real-time energy platform and a central data platform. As a Data Architect at Kaluza, they also led key initiatives and defined data strategy.

David Simons completed their Master of Mathematics (MMath) degree in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Oxford from 2008 to 2012. David then pursued a Graduate Certificate (GradCert) in Linguistics at Birkbeck, University of London from 2020 to 2021. Prior to that, David attended King Edward VI Grammar School, Chelmsford from 2001 to 2008 for their high school education. In addition to their academic qualifications, David has obtained certifications such as Confluent (Kafka) Fundamentals Accreditation from Confluent, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect from Google, and Neo4j Certified Professional from Neo Technology, Creators of Neo4j.
