Serena Schiano has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical and scientific research industry. Serena began their career in 2013 as a Marie Curie ESR at the University of Surrey and worked there until 2016. Following that, they joined the University of Surrey again in 2016 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In 2017, Serena worked as a Research and Development Manager at Gamlen Tableting Limited. Serena then moved on to Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2018, where they served as an R&D Project Manager/Technical Project Lead until 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Manager, Drug Product Development at KalVista Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since 2021 and has been recently promoted to the role of Associate Director.

Serena Schiano completed their education in a sequential manner. Serena first pursued their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at the University of Napoli Federico II from 2006 to 2010. Then, they went on to earn their Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the same institution, which they completed between 2010 and 2012. Afterward, Serena pursued a Doctorate in Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey from 2013 to 2016.

Additionally, Serena obtained several certifications. In 2014, they acquired an Ielts certification; however, the institution where they obtained it remains unspecified. From the University of Napoli Federico II, Serena obtained a qualification in NMR, which does not have specified dates. Moreover, in 2015, they completed the LTA Level 1 Tennis Coaching course and exam at The Wimbledon Club, offered by Impact Tennis.
