Asim Ahmed has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Asim began their career as a Medical Student Research Fellow at Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 1996. Following this, they worked as a Pediatrics Intern at St. Louis Children's Hospital from 2000 to 2001. Asim then became a Resident Physician at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from 2001 to 2003. After that, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System from 2003 to 2004. In 2004, they joined Boston Children's Hospital as a Clinical Fellow and later became a Physician in 2007. In 2017, they transitioned to Karius, where they held various roles including Medical Director from 2017 to 2019, Senior Medical Director from 2019 to 2021, Vice President Medical Affairs from 2021 to 2022, and currently holds the position of Vice President Medical Innovation.
Asim Ahmed holds a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Asim also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and Neuroscience from Amherst College and pursued further studies in the same field at Pomona College. Asim completed their high school education at John Burroughs School and previously attended Forsyth School in St. Louis.
