Director Of Employee Health And Wellness And Infection Control at KSB Hospital

Heather Smith has a diverse work experience in the healthcare sector. Heather began their career in 2009 as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, where they worked as a generalist and oversaw a troponin turnaround study for cardiac designation. In 2014, they moved to Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. Since 2015, they have been working at KSB Hospital in various positions related to employee health and wellness and infection control. Heather started as an Infection Control Practitioner and later became the Infection Control and Employee Health Coordinator. Heather then progressed to become the Manager and eventually the Director of Employee Health and Wellness and Infection Control.

Heather Smith obtained a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology/Technologist from Illinois State University between the years 2007 and 2009. Following that, they pursued a Master's degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Walden University from 2018 to 2020. In addition to their degrees, they also hold certifications in Certified Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. which they obtained in January 2018, and MT(ASCP)CM from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) which they obtained in September 2009.
