Mia de Schamphelaere has a distinguished career in public service and governance, currently serving as a Censor and Regent at NBB since May 2013, and as Stichter Fonds Jovel at the King Baudouin Foundation since January 2013. With significant experience in the political arena, Mia was a Federal Member of Parliament from June 2007 to May 2010, where mia chaired the Justice Committee and became the first Dutch-speaking vice-chair in Parliament's history. Prior to this role, Mia served as a Senator from July 1999 to May 2007, actively participating in the euthanasia debate and shaping the Christian-democratic perspective on dignity and end-of-life issues. From May 1995 to May 1999, Mia was a Flemish Member of Parliament, focusing on educational freedom. Earlier positions include a leadership role as Chair of the Board at Triakon Digital Printing since 1999, and as a director at Katholiek Onderwijs Vlaanderen since May 2011. Educational background includes a law degree from KULeuven and classical studies from a secondary institution.
