Amanda Wernik is an accomplished journalist with a robust background in news reporting and data journalism. Currently serving as a KCBX News Reporter and Sub News Director at NPR KCBX since August 2022, Amanda produces daily news reports and publishes web content utilizing SEO strategies. As a Data Journalism Fellow at the USC Center for Health Journalism from October 2023 to March 2024, Amanda created a compelling three-part multimedia series addressing PTSD and homelessness, enhancing storytelling through original data analysis and visualizations. Previous experience includes leading KCPR Radio as a Lead Anchor, where Amanda produced award-winning audio journalism and managed teams, along with roles at CP Mustang News, ESPN Radio, and the City of San Luis Obispo. Amanda holds a degree in Journalism from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, complemented by a solid education at Grover Cleveland Charter High School.
