Jay Trobec Ph.d., Ccm, Cbm

Jay Trobec, Ph.D., CCM, CBM has worked as the Chief Meteorologist at KELO-TV since September 1985. Additionally, they have served as an Adjunct Instructor at South Dakota State University from 2008 until 2016.

Jay Trobec, Ph.D., CCM, CBM, earned their Ph.D. in Atmospheric, Environmental, and Water Resources from South Dakota State University, where they studied from 2004 to 2007. Prior to that, they attained their M.S. in Geoscience from Mississippi State University, where they studied from 1998 to 2000. Their undergraduate education took place at St. John's University from 1976 to 1980, where they obtained a B.A. in Theater.

In addition to their academic credentials, Trobec holds several certifications related to their field. Jay is an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) and an AMS Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) granted by the American Meteorological Society.
