Robert Carter has diverse work experience in the engineering and academic fields. Robert currently holds the position of Principal Electronics Engineer at KEF | Kent Engineering & Foundry since July 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Hardware Engineer at the same company from August 2021 to July 2022.

Before joining KEF, Carter served as an Embedded Software and Electronic Design Engineer at Kent Modular Electronics, Ltd. from October 2020 to July 2022. Their responsibilities included developing rugged computer monitors for military and industrial customers, firmware updates for existing designs, and ensuring compliance with military standards.

From 2014 to 2020, Carter worked as an Electronics Consultant at RMC Science + Engineering, and from 2001 to 2014, they served as an Engineering Consultant at Greentech Automation.

Carter's academic experience includes working as a Senior Research Associate and Visiting Lecturer/Sessional Teacher at the University of Kent from 2004 to 2012. Robert undertook applied/industrial sponsored R&D work, delivered courses, and presented at conferences and seminars in various countries. Additionally, they performed management duties such as grant and patent applications.

Earlier in their career, Carter was a PhD Researcher and Part-Time Lecturer at the University of Greenwich from 2000 to 2004. Robert conducted electronic and electro-optical research, developed software and firmware, and lectured in related fields, with a focus on green energy and industrial fieldwork.

Robert Carter attended the University of Greenwich from 1998 to 2000, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Kent from 2004 to 2005, and successfully earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electronic Instrumentation. Additionally, in 2011, they obtained a Pilot's License CPL(A) from CAA International (UK CAA).
