Morgain Patterson

Director Of Municipal Law And Training at Kentucky League of Cities

Morgain Patterson has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Starting in 2001, they worked as a Pro Se Litigator for the Paralyzed Veterans of America. From 2002 to 2003, they served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Kentucky Office of Attorney General. In 2003, they joined the Kentucky State Police as an Assistant General Counsel, where they performed general counsel duties and provided legal support to sworn officers. In 2004, they transitioned to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, working as an Administrative Law Judge/Hearing Officer. Morgain then served as the General Counsel for the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources from 2006 to 2008. In 2008, they joined the Kentucky State Police again, this time as their Legal Counsel until 2015. Following that, they became the General Counsel for the Legislative Research Commission in 2015. Finally, they currently hold the position of Director of Municipal Law and Training and Managing Counsel for Member Legal Services at the Kentucky League of Cities, which they started in 2017.

Morgain Patterson attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law from 1997 to 2000, where they earned a J.D. degree in Law. Morgain also attended the University of Cincinnati during the same period and obtained another JD degree in Law. Before attending the University of Cincinnati, Morgain Patterson studied at the University of Kentucky from 1994 to 1997, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
