Head Of Operations - Fahari Aviation at Kenya Airways

Hazel Wachira has a diverse work experience in different organizations. Hazel started their career at Kenya Wildlife Service as an Engineering Intern in 2013. Hazel then worked as an Administrative Assistant at FAO in 2013-2014. Hazel joined Kenya Airways in 2016, first as an Engineering Trainee, where they gained experience in general aircraft maintenance tasks. In 2016-2017, they worked as a Research Engineer for UAV Engineering at Astral Aerial Solutions, contributing to setting up drone operations and developing various drone solutions for clients. Hazel returned to Kenya Airways in 2017 and held several roles including Aeronautical Development Engineer and Head of Training for Fahari Aviation, where they managed the drone training division and ensured compliance with UAV/Drones legislation and company policies. Hazel is currently the Head of Operations for Fahari Aviation at Kenya Airways, responsible for developing and implementing Aviation Technology for business and industrial clients.

Hazel Wachira's education history is as follows:

- In 2019, they attended the Kenya Airways Training School and completed the B737-700/800NG Systems Type Course in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aerospace Science and Technology.

- From 2011 to 2016, they studied at The Technical University of Kenya and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

- In 2010 to 2012, they pursued a General French diploma at Alliance française Nairobi.

- From 2006 to 2009, they attended The Kenya High School and obtained a High School Diploma.

Furthermore, they have acquired additional certifications including "Leader as a Coach" from GE Aerospace in 2023, "Quality Management System for Airlines" from IATA Training in 2023, "Instructional Techniques" from IATA Training in 2022, "Instructor Rating (Aviation)" from the South Africa Civil Aviation Authority in 2021, and "Remote Pilot Licence (Multi rotor & Fixed Wing)" from the South Africa Civil Aviation Authority in 2021. Hazel also holds the KCSE certification from the Kenya National Examinations Council.
