Em Newman is an experienced swim instructor at KIDS FIRST Swim Schools & Franchise Company since March 2014. Previous experience includes a research internship at Enviro-Master focusing on market analysis for nanoshielding and vaporization technology, as well as roles as a horticultural technician at Furbish and a green contracting intern at Greenbuilders, Inc. Em has also contributed to volunteer efforts at The Evergreen State College Organic Farm and the T4 Phage Lab, where involvement as a student volunteer researcher occurred. In addition, Em led an independent research project on antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and held multiple responsibilities as a counselor and ACA-certified canoeing instructor at Nature Camps, Inc. Educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Design from The Evergreen State College, alongside a high school diploma with a focus on biology, statistics, and 3D design from Roland Park Country School.
