Matthew then moved on to positions of increasing responsibility as Materials Engineer, overseeing various infrastructure projects, including the construction of Heathrow Airport's new satellite building and major road widening projects.
In 2013, they joined Balfour Beatty Major Civil Engineering (BBMCE) as a Materials Engineer before transitioning to Kier Group in 2014. At Kier Group, they held the roles of Senior Materials Engineer and Principal Materials Engineer, where they provided materials engineering support for major civil engineering projects such as the Mersey Gateway bridge project and the construction of the first new build nuclear power station in a generation.
In 2019, Fleetwood joined Eiffage Kier as the Chief Materials Engineer. Throughout their career, they have been responsible for a wide range of tasks, including concrete mix design, laboratory and field trials, thermal analysis, and managing earthworks compaction trials.
