Tharinda Vithanawasam

Tharinda Vithanawasam is an experienced engineer with a focus on automation and mechatronics. Tharinda has worked at various companies, starting with U&ME Weddings in 2013 as a Wedding Planner. In 2017, they interned at OREL Corporation, where they collaborated on machine installation, designed mechanical and electrical drawings, and assisted with fault diagnosis and re-engineering.

Tharinda then joined MAS ACTIVE TRADING PVT LTD in 2018 as an Autonomation engineer. Here, they coordinated machine fabrication, selected mechanical and electronic components, and created 3D models and animations. Later in 2018, they became a Consultant Engineer - Automation at MAS ACTIVE Tradings (PVT) LTD, focusing on commercialization and maintenance of automation machines. Tharinda conducted fault analysis, prepared maintenance schedules, and redesigned machine parts for improved manufacturing and repair efficiency.

In 2019, Tharinda joined Dynamic Engineers as an Automation Design Engineer. Tharinda was responsible for project identification, concept designing, prototyping, commercialization, and maintenance. Notable projects include developing an automatic gauze roll cutting machine and refurbishing an incline conveyor system.

Most recently, Tharinda is working at Kinergy Corporation Limited as a Design Engineer. Tharinda'sresponsibilities include designing and developing automation machines for the semiconductor industry. Tharinda has designed a fully automated QFN package wet grinding/polishing machine and conducted a proof of concept for a fully automated Hi-Tech Vegetable seed sorting and planting machine.

Tharinda Vithanawasam completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Financial Technology from London Metropolitan University between 2023 and 2025. Prior to that, they attended D. S. Senanayake College for their high school education. Tharinda Vithanawasam also holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) with Honours in Mechatronics Engineering from the Open University of Sri Lanka. Additionally, they have obtained an Associate Member certification from the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka and an Associate Engineer (AEng) certification from The Engineering Council of Sri Lanka.
