Andrew W. Jacobs has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Andrew W. began their career at IBM, where they held the role of Co-op, designing and implementing an Automated Tracking System and serving as a LAN Administrator. Andrew W. then moved on to Digital Communication Associates and Attachmate, where they worked as a Technical Lead, designing and programming commercial Intranet and Groupware applications.
In 1996, Jacobs joined Microsoft - Research as a Senior Research Software Development Engineer. During their time there, they led technical teams on various projects, including the development of a Social Network and Relationship Finder. Andrew W. also served as a Dev Lead for the Personal Applications on the Pocket PC and Smartphone platforms, with responsibilities including planning, coding, and managing direct reports.
From 2009 to 2013, Jacobs worked at Atlascraft Development as a Senior Software Architect. In this role, they designed and implemented an update for the US Navy's DEIP Enterprise system, improving data ingestion processing.
In 2013, Jacobs joined Pragmatics, Inc., as Deputy Dev Lead, working on a contract with the US Treasury Department. Andrew W. led and mentored other developers and was responsible for updating requirements, writing code, and fixing defects.
Most recently, Jacobs has been working at Kinetica since 2014 as a Sr. Director of Engineering, focusing on OLAP capabilities of their GPUdb Database Software. Andrew W. leads a team of engineers in writing C++ code to implement OLAP functions.
Throughout their career, Jacobs has demonstrated technical expertise in programming languages such as C++, C#, and VB, as well as strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Andrew W. Jacobs attended Mid-Pacific Institute from 1980 to 1986, where they completed their high school education. After that, they pursued higher education at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1986 to 1991. During their time at Georgia Tech, they earned a degree in ICS (Computers, Math).
Apart from their formal education, Andrew W. Jacobs also obtained additional certifications to enhance their skills. In November 2020, they completed a certification titled "Project Management Foundations" through LinkedIn. Additionally, in March 2014, they successfully completed a certification called "Programming Mobile Applications for Android Handheld Systems" from Coursera.
