Rich Byrnes

Rich Byrnes has extensive work experience in various roles and industries.

Rich started their career in 1983, serving as a Naval Officer in the United States Navy's Nuclear Submarine Program. During this time, they directed operations on a nuclear submarine and led divisions responsible for Reactor Controls, Torpedo/Fire Control, and Weapons Systems.

In 1989, Byrnes transitioned to the DuPont company, where they held multiple roles. Rich served as a Site Maintenance & Construction Manager, Operations Manager, and R&D Group Leader in Deepwater, New Jersey. Rich also worked as a Technical Manager in Wilmington, Delaware, and a Project Manager & Environmental Leader in LaPorte, Texas. Throughout their time at DuPont, Byrnes managed various projects, including the implementation of new technologies and the improvement of environmental practices.

Additionally, Byrnes served in the U.S. Navy Reserve, starting in 1989. Rich held the position of Operations Officer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Norfolk, Virginia. In these roles, they were responsible for commercial and military shipping control and provided support for submarine deployment activities and fleet operations.

Most recently, Byrnes worked for King Industries, starting in 2000. Rich served as both the Plant Manager and Director of Engineering in Norwalk, Connecticut. In these positions, they focused on increasing production volume, quality improvement, and driving corporate engineering activities. Byrnes also led the corporate Process Safety Management program and ensured compliance with various regulations and standards.

Rich Byrnes completed their Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (BChE) degree in Chemical Engineering at Manhattan College from 1979 to 1983. Rich then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Nuclear Engineering at Naval Nuclear Power School from 1983 to 1985.
