Rana Matar

Rana Matar joined King's Academy in 2009 as a teacher in the Learning Center. She obtained both her bachelor's and master's degrees in special education from the University of Jordan.

Ms. Matar has spent 13 years working in the education sector. She was head of the learning difficulties department at the Irshad Center for Psychological and Educational Consultation and a part-time tutor for undergraduate students at the Arab Open University and Al-Quds College. She has also held teaching positions at several schools in Amman.

During her time at university, Ms. Matar worked with a team on adapting diagnostic tests for students in Jordan. She has attended several conferences and courses on motor development and sensory integration, behavior modification and counseling families and she is certified as a screener for Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome (SSS), a test used to screen for dyslexia. In 2010, she developed a curriculum entitled “Futuristic Scenarios for Creative Problem Solving.” She has also presented papers on a variety of related topics, such as teamwork in rehabilitation programs and sensory integration programs in preschool.

In 2012, Ms. Matar became a faculty member and coordinator in the Learning Center. She obtained a master’s degree in multidisciplinary studies from the State University of New York College at Buffalo (SUNY) the following year.

At King’s, Ms. Matar founded “Kursi wa Kitab”, a community service initiative working to improve rehabilitation services offered to children with Cerebral Palsy. In 2016, she received the CICELD award for “How Can I Help?”, a story she penned that teaches preschool children how to support persons with disabilities.

In 2020, Ms. Matar was named head of the Learning Center.
