Justin Smith

Justin Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Justin currently works at the KIPP Foundation as a Vice President of Talent, where they are responsible for developing and implementing strategies related to total rewards, talent management, and employee experiences. Prior to this, Justin served as a Senior Director of Strategic Projects at the KIPP Foundation, where they led cross-functional teams in developing and monitoring strategic plans.

Before joining the KIPP Foundation, Justin worked at Denver Public Schools, where they held various roles. As the Chief of Staff for the Academics and Innovation Office, they managed a large team and ensured alignment of priorities and workflow. Justin also served as a Program Manager, overseeing the district's teacher residency program and developing talent pipeline strategies.

Early in their career, Justin participated in The Broad Center's leadership development program, where they gained experience in K-12 urban education and received a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. Justin also worked at Teach For America, holding positions such as Managing Director and Program Director, where they focused on teacher training and professional development.

Justin's work experience also includes a fellowship at New York University Wagner School of Public Service, where they explored careers in public service, and a role as a Kindergarten Teacher at Sisulu-Walker Charter School of Harlem, where they designed and implemented educational programs.

Justin Smith completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Studies, as well as theatre arts, at Loyola University Chicago from 2002 to 2006. Justin went on to earn a Master's degree in Urban Education and Leadership from The Broad Center between 2015 and 2017. Following that, in 2017 to 2018, they pursued a National Principal Academy Fellowship in School Leadership at Relay Graduate School of Education. Additionally, Justin completed a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education at Pace University from 2006 to 2008.
