Valeria Verzi

Valeria Verzi has a diverse work experience in the field of data science. Valeria is currently working at Klarna as the Head of Data Science - User Account and Fraud Prevention, where they began in November 2022. Prior to this role, Valeria was the Data Science/MLE Manager at Klarna, specializing in Fraud Strategy for the EU region.

Before joining Klarna, Valeria worked at Generali Italia as a Senior Data Scientist, focusing on fraud detection. Valeria was responsible for developing machine learning and AI solutions, from understanding business needs to producing insights and implementing production codes. Valeria also worked on proof-of-concept projects using both classical ML models and newer techniques/frameworks. Valeria held this position from March 2019 to February 2022. Prior to their senior role, they worked as a Data Scientist at Generali Italia from February 2017 to March 2019.

Valeria's career began at NTT DATA Italia, where they worked as a Data Scientist - Consultant from December 2014 to February 2017. Valeria then gained experience as an intern at Queen Mary University of London, where they developed a physics-based model for extracting specific coefficients from piano recordings as part of their master's thesis. Additionally, they interned at ABB, where they contributed to projects related to thermal well-being and energy savings. Their work at ABB formed the basis of their bachelor's thesis.

Valeria Verzi completed their education at Politecnico di Milano. Valeria obtained a Bachelor's degree in Ingegneria matematica from 2009 to 2012, and later pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering from 2012 to 2014.

Valeria completed the "Advanced Machine Learning with TensorFlow on Google Cloud Platform Specialization" from Coursera in August 2020.
