Alok Tewari

Alok is a Senior Partner in the Firm. He is a member of the Firm's Corporate Practice and also heads the Real Estate desk.

He has extensive experience in representing various Indian and foreign companies, including major real estate developers, funds and construction companies, on issues relating to real estate and construction laws in India. His real estate and construction experience includes advising on various aspects of structuring the transaction, issues related to acquisition of land in India and related documentation.

Alok also regularly advises on issues pertaining to Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures (both entry and exit), foreign collaborations, technology transfers, asset sales (slump sales) etc. and has been the lead attorney in successfully representing several Indian and foreign companies in several transactions within India.

He has also advised various companies in setting up their units in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and under the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) scheme.

Alok regularly advises leading international retail companies in their cash and carry operations in India and has assisted major retail brands to set up their Indian operations. He also advises on issues relating to setting-up of retail outlets based on self-owned, self-operated and/or franchisee model.

Alok has advised various multinational banks and other financial institutions relating to their business entry strategies into India, preparation of general guidelines regarding "Do's & Don'ts while carrying on business in India", drafting and vetting of agreements including loan agreements, vendor agreements, service agreements, business association agreements, etc.

He also regularly advised on issues pertaining to business formation, company laws, exchange control & foreign investment laws and employment laws.

Alok has been consistently ranked by prestigious legal publications, Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500 as a Band 1 Lawyer for Real Estate and Elite Leading Lawyer for Real Estate & Construction respectively.
