Gauri Khanolkar has worked in various roles in the engineering field since 2006. In 2006, they were a Project Engineering Co-op at Broadlands Financial Group, where they analyzed contract, site plans and other construction-related documents for financial viability and feasibility for loan closing, conducted inspections of construction sites to compare work completed with funds requested by contractor, and analyzed financial statements, project management and cost monitoring methods of general contracting firms to evaluate contractor's abilities for project on hand. In 2007, they were a Sterile Manufacturing Co-op at Merck, where they investigated deviations in the manufacturing process, wrote atypical process reports detailing the event, determining root cause, product impact and proposing corrective actions to prevent further occurrences, and assisted in installation and operational qualification of manufacturing equipment. In 2009, they were a Sterile Operations Intern at Merck, where they composed detailed narrative summary of technical operation of several cold-vaults to be included in equipment documentation, created shakedown procedure for cold vaults, to be executed prior to performance qualification, to ensure system is mechanically sound, and analyzed temperature data to verify proper functioning of refrigeration units. From 2010 to 2016, they were a Research Assistant and PhD Candidate at the University of Southern California. Since 2021, they have been a Mechanical Engineer at Kodiak Robotics.

Gauri Khanolkar received their PhD in Shock Physics from the University of Southern California between 2010 and 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a BS/MS Summa Cum Laude in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University between 2005 and 2010. Gauri also obtained a certification as an Engineer in Training from the State of Pennsylvania in April 2010. Gauri Khanolkar's educational background began at Delhi Public School - R. K. Puram, where they attended between 2003 and 2005.
