Philip du Toit has worked in various roles in the technology industry since 2001. Philip began their career as a Research Scientist at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2001. In 2009, they joined Numerica Corporation as a Principal Scientist and Program Manager/Senior Research Scientist. In 2018, they became a Global Lead Perception/Principal Research Scientist at Aptiv and a Principal Research Scientist at nuTonomy. Since 2019, they have been a Senior Staff Software Engineer and a Staff Software Engineer at Kodiak Robotics.

Philip du Toit obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) with University Honors in Physics from Brigham Young University between 1998 and 2001. Philip then went on to get a Master of Science (MS) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Michigan between 2002 and 2004. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Control and Dynamical Systems from Caltech between 2004 and 2009. In addition to their degrees, Philip has obtained several certifications, including a Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance in June 2018, a Udacity Self-Driving Car Nanodegree from Udacity in November 2017, and a High Performance Leadership certification from the University of Denver in July 2015.
