Marco De Montis has had a varied work experience since 2013. Marco began their career as a Research Assistant Intern at DeaLab in 2013. In 2014, they became a Graduate Student at Newcastle University. From 2015 to 2019, they worked at QuantuMDx Group Limited as a Research Scientist. In 2019, they moved to Kromek Group plc, where they are currently the Biotechnology Research Manager and Biotechnology Engineer. In this role, they are responsible for the development of an autonomous biosensing system for the detection of bacterial and viral airborne pathogens, as well as providing technical oversight for the microfluidic-based automation of molecular biology.

Marco De Montis began their education in 2003, when they attended Liceo Scientifico Michelangelo (Cagliari) and obtained a Lyceum Diploma in Scientific Lyceum in 2008. From 2006 to 2007, they attended Logan Elm High School and obtained an American High School Diploma. Marco then attended Università degli Studi di Cagliari, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering in 2013. Finally, they attended Newcastle University, where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Engineering in 2015.
