Duncan McMillan

Duncan McMillan has worked in the engineering and sales and marketing fields since 1997. Duncan began their career as an R&D Engineer at OptoSci Inc in 1997. Duncan then worked as an R&D Optical Engineer/Product Engineer and an R&D Optics/Product Engineer at Alcatel from 2000 to 2005. From 2005 to 2011, they worked as an Optical and Electronic Engineer at Orbits Lightwave Inc. From 2011 to 2013, they were the Director of Sales and Marketing/Programming at EazyWorks LLC. Duncan then worked as a Senior Photonics Engineer at Packet Photonics, Inc. from 2013 to 2017. Since 2017, they have been a Senior Electrical/Mechanical Engineer at ThinGap, Inc., and they currently hold the same role at KSI Data Sciences and First I.

Duncan McMillan began their educational journey in 1992, when they earned a Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Institute of Technology in Carlow. Duncan then attended Queen's University Belfast, where they earned a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1997. Following this, they completed a PhD in Optoelectronics Optical Filters, EDFAs, and broadband fibre sources at the University of Strathclyde in 2000. Finally, in 2004-2005, they earned a PGCE in Education from the University of Glasgow, with a focus on Physics and Mathematics.
