Kathryn Hastie

Kathryn Hastie is an accomplished instructor at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology since April 2019, with a robust background in structural and biochemical analysis of viral glycoproteins. Prior to this position, Kathryn served as a staff scientist and postdoctoral research associate at The Scripps Research Institute from July 2006 to June 2019, where significant contributions were made in creating libraries of plasmids for recombinant glycoprotein production and developing stable cell lines. Kathryn's academic journey includes a PhD in Structural Virology from Scripps Research, and dual bachelor's degrees in Molecular and Developmental Biology and Environmental, Evolutionary and Population Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder. Experience also includes undergraduate research involvement focusing on the coevolution of malarial parasites and functional studies on EBV proteins.
