Al Torres has extensive experience in the medical field, particularly in critical care for pediatric patients. Al began their career at Arkansas Children's Hospital, where they worked as a PICU physician from 1992 to 1997. Al then moved on to Children's Hospital of Illinois, where they served as the Director of Critical Care from 1998 to 2011. In 2012, Al joined Nemours Children's Hospital as the Chief of Critical Care, a position they held until 2018. During their time at Nemours, they also served as the Chief of Critical Care and Transport from 2012 to 2017. In 2016, Al became the Medical Director of the PICU at Osceola Regional Medical Center, a role they held until 2020. Most recently, they have taken up the position of Medical Director at Lakeland Regional Health-Florida since 2017 and at Nemours since 2018.
Al Torres earned an MD degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine between 1982 and 1986. Al later pursued a Master's degree in Physiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin from 1989 to 1992.
