Phyllis Ling Chen has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several decades. Phyllis Ling began their career in 1969 as a Lecturer at the South Australian Institute of Technology. Phyllis then moved on to work as a Systems Analyst and Assistant Professor at California State University, Los Angeles from 1972 to 1973. Phyllis Ling later joined the City of Vancouver as a Computer Systems Project Manager from 1979 to 1984. Phyllis then worked as an Independent Computer Consultant and Lecturer from 1985 to 1987. Phyllis Ling continued their career at Compulink Management Centre, where they served as a Senior Advisor from 1991 to 2007. In 2009, Phyllis became the Managing Director at Laserfiche and later transitioned to the position of Director at Laserfiche International Ltd in 2016.
Phyllis Ling Chen earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in General Business Management from the University of Southern California, attending from 1972 to 1973. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (B.App.Sc.) degree in Computer Studies/Data Processing at the University of Adelaide, from 1965 to 1968. Earlier in their education, Phyllis studied at Loreto Convent, Mandeville Hall in Australia, where they obtained their High School matriculation from 1961 to 1963. Phyllis Ling also attended St. Mary's Cannosian College, where they completed their Secondary School education in the Chinese section from 1958 to 1960.
