Olisa Abaelu

Olisa Abaelu has a diverse work experience in various financial services companies. Olisa began their career as an Audit Professional at Deloitte, where they handled financial services clients and provided assurance, business development, due diligence, and consulting services.

After Deloitte, Abaelu joined Farmers Insurance as a Manager in Investments Accounting and Compliance. Olisa was responsible for managing internal and external financial reporting for a $15 billion investment portfolio, ensuring compliance, and preparing reporting packages for management.

Olisa then moved on to Transamerica, where they became the Vice President of Investment Accounting Operations and Reporting. Their role involved managing the investment back-office operations and derivatives back-office operations, as well as handling financial and statutory reporting for the $35 billion investment portfolio.

Following their tenure at Transamerica, Abaelu joined Countrywide Securities Corporation as the 1st Vice President - Controller Rates, Syndication, and Alternative Investments. Here, they oversaw accounting operations and financial reporting for Capital Markets divisions, ensuring compliance with corporate accounting policies. Olisa also served as the VP of Trading Product Controller, managing financial control procedures and liaising with trading desks and other areas within the firm.

Most recently, Abaelu worked at Latilla LLC as the SVP of Professional Services. Olisa led teams engaged in delivering solutions to the Finance, Front, Middle, and Back Offices of investment/financial product operations. Olisa proved to be a hands-on operator, specializing in IBOR/ABOR platform implementations, business transformations, and operations workflow optimizations. Olisa also demonstrated expertise in a wide range of financial products, including debt, equity, rates, FX, cash, mortgage, credit products, and derivatives.

Throughout their career, Abaelu has showcased a track record of strategic change delivery, internal controls framework assessments, and optimization of operations workflows.

Olisa Abaelu has a comprehensive education history. Olisa started their academic journey at King's College Lagos from 1976 to 1981, where they completed their O levels. Following this, they attended the University of Lagos in 1981 to study Electrical Engineering. In 1982, they transferred to Davies College in Hove, where they pursued A-Levels in Physics and Mathematics until 1983. Finally, they enrolled at The University of Manchester, where they graduated in 1986 with a B.Sc. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
