Ben Houghton has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Ben is currently working as a Principal Scientist at Laverock Therapeutics since June 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Achilles Therapeutics plc as a Principal Scientist from May 2022 to March 2023.
Before transitioning to industry roles, Ben Houghton had a long-term role as a Research Associate at UCL from August 2013 to May 2022.
Their earlier experiences include being a Research Assistant at the University of Bristol from April 2012 to October 2012, and also concurrently pursuing a PhD as a PhD Student at the University of Bristol from October 2008 to October 2012.
Ben Houghton's career in the scientific field started at DSTL - Porton down, where they worked as a Laboratory Assistant - Year in Industry from September 2004 to September 2005. Their responsibilities in this role involved developing single chain antibody technology for biological sensors of chemical and biological warfare agents, including tasks such as cloning, phage display, scFv, and ELISA.
Ben Houghton obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry (Honors) from the University of Bristol, where they studied from 2005 to 2008. Ben then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Gene/Genetic Therapy and Neuroscience at the same university from 2008 to 2012.
