Megan Long has a diverse work experience primarily in the legal field. Megan currently holds the role of Appellate Division Chief at the Office of the Public Defender, a position they started in December 2021. Prior to this, Megan worked at the same organization in the Second Judicial Circuit as an Assistant Public Defender and later as the Intake Division Chief in the Appellate Division, starting in 2012 and 2019 respectively. Additionally, they served as a Trial Attorney in the Felony Division D of the Second Judicial Circuit from August 2020. Before joining the Office of the Public Defender, Megan worked at the Office of the State Courts Administrator as a Senior Court Analyst in the Office of Court Improvement in 2012. Megan also held the position of Program Attorney at the Florida Innocence Commission within the General Counsel of the Office of the State Courts Administrator from 2011 to 2012.
Megan Long obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from the University of Central Florida, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Later, they pursued further education at the University of Florida, earning a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree in Criminal Law from 2007 to 2010.
