Jessica Parker

Jessica Parker has a diverse work experience in the education field. Jessica is currently the Executive Director of Learning at Lawrence Hall of Science, UC Berkeley. Previously, they worked at the Exploratorium, where they held roles such as Senior Director of Educator Engagement and Director of Teaching and Learning. Jessica also worked at Maker Ed as the Director of Community & Learning. Jessica has a strong background in academia, having been an Associate Professor and Department Chair at Sonoma State University, where they co-founded the Maker Certificate Program and led the Curriculum Studies and Secondary Education department. Prior to that, they were an Assistant Professor at Sonoma State University, teaching educational technology and serving as an advisor to MA students. Jessica also worked as a Lecturer at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education, where they taught courses on sports in higher education and oversaw the writing tutorial program. Jessica started their career as an English Teacher at Berkeley High School and a Humanities Teacher at Hawaii Preparatory Academy.

Jessica Parker received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996. Jessica then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Education at the same institution from 1996 to 1998. Following this, Jessica completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Education from the University of California, Berkeley from 2004 to 2009.
