Laurie Carter

Laurie Carter is currently the President at Lawrence University. Prior to their current role, Laurie served as the President at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania from August 2017 to July 2021. During their time at Shippensburg, Laurie focused on the success of students, connecting with the workforce and engaging with the community.

Laurie Carter began their career in 1988 as the Vice President and General Counsel at The Juilliard School. In 2013, they transitioned to become the Vice President Arts Education at New Jersey Performing Arts Center before taking on the role of Executive Vice President and University Counsel at Eastern Kentucky University in 2014.

Laurie Carter received their Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School, their MA in Communications from William Paterson University of New Jersey, and their BS in Communications from PennWest Clarion.
