James Whitfield

James Whitfield is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience in the development and management of innovative solutions for the energy sector. Currently serving as Chief Technology Officer at Layline Automation, Inc. since August 2022, James focuses on enhancing Operational Technologies across various verticals. Previously, James held significant leadership roles at organizations such as The Select Group and Inskyon Solutions, LLC, specializing in Smart Grid, IoT, and advanced enterprise software solutions. A long tenure at Itron saw James progress from Sr. Software Engineer to Sr. Director of R&D, where impactful contributions included overseeing the development of a leading Meter Data Management system utilized by over 70 utilities worldwide. Complementing a strong professional background, James earned a Ph.D. in Nuclear Chemistry from Purdue University, and further advanced education at Carnegie Mellon University and Shenandoah University.
